Terms of Use
Effective June 30, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the How Much After Taxwebsite and calculator (the “Service”), operated by How Much After Tax(“we”, “us”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
How Much After Tax is a free take-home pay calculator. You enter a salary, state, and filing status, and we estimate your pay after federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare (FICA), and state income tax for the 2026 tax year. The Service is free to use, requires no account, and does not collect the personal information you type to compute a result. Calculations run in your browser.
2. Estimates only: not professional advice
The figures the Service produces are estimates for the 2026 tax year for general information only. They are not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and using the Service does not create any professional or advisory relationship. Estimates apply the standard deduction and the assumptions described in our methodology; they do not account for local or city income taxes, credits, itemized deductions, or your full circumstances. Do not rely on them as the basis for any financial, employment, or tax decision. Verify with the IRS, your state’s Department of Revenue, and a qualified tax professional before acting.
3. Accuracy & sources
We compute every result from published tax tables and primary sources, which we document on our methodology page. Tax rules change, sources may contain errors, and brackets can be revised; we do not warrant that any estimate is accurate, current, or complete. If a number looks wrong, check the “Show your work” breakdown and confirm against the cited source.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-download the Service, or use it to build a competing or substantially similar dataset or product;
- access the Service through automated means or place an unreasonable load on it, or evade rate limits or other technical restrictions;
- interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems;
- remove, obscure, or alter any notices, attributions, or branding;
- use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.
5. Advertising & third-party links
The Service is supported by advertising and may display third-party ads (including Google AdSense) and affiliate links to payroll or financial products, from which we may earn a commission. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, products, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site, ad, or service. Your dealings with any advertiser or linked third party are solely between you and that party.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including the site, its design, text, and software, is owned by us and protected by applicable law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use.
7. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE AND ALL ESTIMATES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any estimate will be accurate.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, taxes, penalties, or other amounts, arising out of or relating to your use of, or reliance on, the Service or any estimate it produces. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed US $100.
9. Changes
We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator is principally located, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there for any dispute arising under them.
